| - After trying yesterday for about 30 minutes, I again have been on phone this morning for 2 1/2 hours trying to make post hospital followup visit with a doctor. I call Scheduling phone number, press 2, get message that says "please wait while I transfer your call", then am asked to press 1 for the physician, then get message that says " x3179 is on another call" then am asked to press number for physician again so I press 1, then get the same message about x3179 being on another call and this same "circle" goes on until after pressing 1 for about the 10th time the system says bye and disconnects you.
After over an hour of this, I thought maybe they were having phone problems so Instead of opting for Scheduling I selected an administration number and after being on hold a couple times and got through to ask if they were having phone issues and explained nicely I was trying to make a post hospital followup visit. The lady said she could help me and asked for date of birth and put me on hold, then came back on and said she was at the front desk and too busy with patients checking in to help make an appointment but would transfer me to someone that could. Guess what? She transferred me back to that Scheduling number so I did the "circle" thing for another hour, calling back each time my call was disconnected after the 10th "x3179 is on another call" message.
I get that they must be very busy but they need to address this frustrating, time wasting experience for patients. Maybe add phone lines or add an option where people can leave a message requesting a call back rather than getting into that "circle" where you get the line is busy message and have to press 1 only to do it all over again. I am taking a break and will try calling again this afternoon, but thought I would post here because I can't recall ever having such trouble making an appointment and/or not being able to leave a message with a medical office. From a customer service perspective they should pull phone reports to see how many calls are coming in and how many calls they are disconnecting at the end of
