| - So where to start. The server was generally rude. We tell him where we live and he starts talking about his timeshare there and how he can't be bothered to play at anything but the best clubs there. It was almost like he was talking down to us but kind of funny at the same time because we honestly don't really care.
I was hosting a corporate dinner there and this guy was going for the company card with no mercy. Ask for a wine selection and he suggests a bottle that is on special for $140, so I select it. Well, he billed me $255/bottle so much for it being on special, I missed that when i went over the bill because I was looking at the up charge on the steaks.
He asks our guests if they would like something to start with, perhaps some caviar and a seafood tower made special for us. One of them spoke up and said we just came from an event where we had all of that. Before we could ask for other options, he looked annoyed and walked away, no give me a second, no i'll be right back, literally turned around and walked away. Our guests and I got a chuckle out of it. Then someone jokingly pointed out that the seafood app was $65/person and the caviar was up to an extra $200.
The server comes back after literally 15 minutes to take our order and starts the hard sell again. As we go around the table, some of the guests order the filet and he looks at them and says "your want that bone in right?", so they said yes, well no mention that the bone in is an extra $20 per guest. Its not a big deal but its the way he did it, his intentions were so obvious, he was just so slimy. Every suggestion he made was the most expensive thing he could think of. We went along with it but even the guests got a laugh out of it when he walked away. One commented that he should be a used car salesman with how apologetically sly he thought he was being. He hit the deserts and scotch hard as well, we just played along at this point. The guy was such a tool. Anyway, the bill came, I gave him a shitty tip and got out of there. This is the first time i have given under 15% ever. I know these people live off their tips and its a big deal but this guy was just so slimy i couldn't support it. Anyway, i'll never, ever, ever go back. The rest of the meals we had in vegas were great. We hosted a dinner at Sinatra's and it was awesome, we definetly spent way more per person which really didn't matter but when we left, we felt like I had been served well and got great food. It was a relaxing environment with class. Not some guy druling over your corporate card hitting you up like a used car salesman selling an 1985 caddilac.
Anyway, the food...
The good:
Bone in filet was amazing. Really well cooked, well seasoned and good sized.
Salads were good as well, nothing out of this world but good.
Desert was amazing. It really shined.
The bad
The steak tartar was terrible, its one of my favorite dishes normally but they had some kind of sour cream sauce on it and it was chopped in chunks with lots of big fat hunks. I would have sent it back but just didn't have the energy to deal with our server. He probably would have suggested that I wash the taste out with the Louis XIII and 2 ounces of caviar while he prepared a new "special for me" tartar for like $600...
So i leave you with this. If you want to go to a "5 Star" steak dinner hosted by a shameless used car salesman, this is the spot.
