| - So I know there are people who don't like Consol as much as Mellon Arena, I admit I have no idea why. CEC is clearly a superior venue on just about every regard. The seats are more comfortable, better spaced and as an added benefit, sot a single one is behind a pole, under an overhang or conveniently placed on the top of a rickety stair climb. The bathrooms are far more plentiful with much improved in and out traffic flow. The concessions are located (for the most part) out of the concourse traffic flow, and have much better selections and much better throughput in service. The concourses themselves are amply wide to accommodate two-way traffic, even between periods of hockey games.
As for the overall experience, there is yet to be an event that isn't better at CEC, as compared to the Mellon Arena. Hockey games are a better experience with much better sight lines and far more seats closer to the action. Concerts are better as again, the setup is better for a concert, not to mention that we are no longer being passed up for shows due to not being able to accommodate stage setups for some of the larger acts.
The only rational argument I've heard against it is that it doesn't have the character of the old arena, but I'll admit, character has never added to my viewing experience. I'll also admit, I hated Wrigley Field for being an outdated venue missing the most basic of fan experience convenances. Mellon was about the same.
All said...I have no idea why I am even comparing the CEC to MA. Sorry about that,
