  • Was looking for a used Lexus for under $5,000 and in my various searches, 7th Avenue Auto Sales was the only dealer that had one in that price range in the whole Phoenix metropolitan area! I should have known there was a good reason why! I ended up putting $1,500 into this car in the first 10 days of ownership! I used the True Car search engine and this was a certified dealer through my bank. I called and was able to come see the vehicle on the way to work one day. I was told the vehicle had bad shocks in the rear and that 7th Ave Auto had replaced one of the rocker arms on the front end. What they did NOT report was that their was body damage on the driver's side rear quarter panel! They also had the vehicle listed on their web site as having 155,000 miles but it actually had 157,000. Apparently, they take the vehicles home and use them as their own and don't take into account all the miles they are putting on them. My salesman Eric was very responsive and knowledgeable and even came in when the dealership was closed on the Saturday before Christmas to deliver the vehicle to me. I liked the fact that they had the oil changed and the vehicle detailed when I came to pick it up. What I didn't notice until I drove off was that the fuel tank was less than half full. That was unprofessional in my opinion. It also smelled like stale smoke. ($6.99 for an air freshener/fogger and it would have smelled great) I didn't have a mechanic to bring it to because I've never owned a Lexus and didn't know where to go. I also don't live anywhere near this dealership. Three days after I bought it, the front end started vibrating while I was driving on the freeway (it ended up needing new front axles). Three days after that, the check engine light came on (needed a new thermostat). Then there was the one tire that was almost bald. I thought I looked at all of them but apparently when I saw that 2 or 3 had good tread I assumed all four did. So I had to rush to get a new tire. And the "bad shocks"? Nope, the rear bushings needed to be repacked. Luckily I found an AMAZING Lexus mechanic! All in all, I got a 15 year old Lexus in good condition for $3,999! Since I put the initial $1,500 into it, the car has run like a dream! I have already driven it 4,000 miles and have not had problems since the first two weeks. I would actually recommend this dealer since they have nice luxury vehicles with high miles at fairly good prices. Just make sure you bring it to a mechanic or have money put aside for the repairs it will need. **Update** Just found out it needs another $1,500 in work!
