  • I am at Laguna Village Apartments (unfortunately) right up the road so I assume this is the Burns location that sprays here. Let me first start out by whining mercilessly about my bug issues here. When we first moved to the complex in August we found some silverfish in the bathrooms and chalked it up to a leaky showerhead causing moisture and the heat as the electricity and AC had been off since whenever the last tenant moved out. Sightings drastically reduced but didn't go away once the shower was fixed and we turned on the AC. Then, as the weather changed in the fall, roaches started making an appearance. First one or two every week or so, then about five a week. Enter Burns. We'd only seen them in the kitchen so he only sprayed the kitchen and the next few weeks we saw a few dead or obviously poisoned bugs that petered off to none. Gabriel, the wonderful and knowledgeable exterminator in all things icky, told me that they were definitely not living in our kitchen and most likely exploring from downstairs. He recommended inspecting downstairs, something the management never went through with. Around the start of the year they started showing up again and I immediately ran into Gabriel's arms for protection. He came to the rescue once more. I was safe, until my downstairs neighbors moved out. As the screaming, yelling, crying, tv-blasting band of miscreants packed up and moved out- 4 adults, 5 kids, and an infant in all- I thought my troubles were over. Alas, I was so overcome with glee I didn't stop and think of where all those suspected roaches downstairs may go when their hosts move out. We went from a roach or so a week to 5-10 a day and another tryst with Gabriel was imminent. He asserted that yes, there was a horrible infestation downstairs. He's sprayed and fogged two weeks in a row but when the roaches die more roaches come to eat the dead ones (EWWWW) and since management has not cleaned up the dead ones like he told them, the issue will probably continue. Nevertheless, I feel safe once again. Perhaps I'll go take a nap as I kept waking myself up last night freaking out over imaginary itches. Long story short: These guys do a great job but it can only go so far. I recommend asking them to point out any points of entry and any tips to keep pests at bay as they're a wealth of information. But spraying your area only goes so far if people close to you aren't so bothered about the occasional insect crawling in their infant's mouth at night. :-/
