Received an odd email from this establishment I just reviewed on my dining club web site. I see where the owners have also responded to others here previously in similar fashion. This is disconcerting as I explicitly followed the posting guidelines ( which call for authenticity, accuracy and relevancy) in my review. There is definitively a condescending and trivializing undertone of defensiveness throughout his reply... oh, and I never said I "loved" this place.... and his falling back on the argument of authenticity is relative anyway, I was recently in Oaxaca City's Zocalo and this was allowed in some cafes, but not many. I was merely reporting what did and didn't appeal to us and others there, your mileage may differ! I didn't mean to "tear" anyone up.
"Baja Joe's Mexican Cantina's response:
i'm really sorry that one bad experience (with music and ambiance no less) was enough to forget about all your love of our place and to tear us up with such a poorly rated review ...Maybe you don't know how detrimental a review like that is for a business. We do allow the musicians to come in here and there to play for tips, just like in Mexico...it adds to our authenticity for most folk, sorry it did not sit well with you. Hopefully you come back and if you really enjoy our place and think so much more of it, you can decide to rates us differently...but maybe just be conscience of the overall rating as it really hinders good business. And I guess to part, you have one issue with ambiance and you stop coming? I guess that means maybe you were not that in love after all. sorry to hear, we'd love to be there for your nourishment.
