| - I wanted to give an honest review on Consolidated Mechanical Contractors (CMC). We were contracted to use them through our home warranty company, Old Republic Home Protection (ORHP). CMC came out promptly (Tues) when given the work order, and the tech (Derrick) diagnosed that we needed a new compressor. He estimated that it would take 3-10 days to complete the job because CMC needed to contact ORHP to authorize ordering the new part. He said ordering the new part should take just a day or so. This is where the problems started. I called CMC the next day (Wed) to see if they had ordered the new part. The secretary there said that they had sent over the work order to ORHP and were waiting for authorization. I then contacted ORHP and they had no record of CMC asking for authorization. I called CMC promptly back, and at first they said that "maybe you talked to a lower level employee at ORHP. Sometimes they don't have access to all the info". After I asked more questions, the CMC secretary said that maybe the authorization hadn't been sent over and she'd put a priority on it.
So I waited a few days until Friday, called ORHP, and they had still not received any request for authorizing a new part. I also informed them of CMC's lower level employee comment, which ORHP said was ridiculous. While I waited on hold, ORHP called CMC directly and asked why the authorization had not been sent. CMC then promised they would be sending it this morning. I waited a few hours, called CMC back directly and asked if the authorization had been sent over to ORHP. They said it had been sent over and were now waiting for authorization. I called back ORHP - still no work order authorization had been sent. I complained to ORHP on all the delays and asked to transfer my contractor to another company, to which they replied - If CMC has not sent over the authorization by 5pm today, we will transfer your work order to a new contractor. Can you guess what happened/didn't happen by 5pm? ;) No work order, and finally I got a new AC contractor assigned to my broken AC system.
I write this review for 2 reasons 1) to show the lack of honest treatment I received from Consolidated Mechanical Contractors, and 2) I've read a lot of complaints about CMC on Yelp about having to go through them with their home warranty company, and not being able to get out of using CMC. I just wanted to say that if you have a great home warranty company like ORHP and you really document your problems with a specific contractor, you can get transferred to a different contractor. Just document, document, document everything. Also, given CMC's lack of honest service with me, it's not too much of a stretch of the imagination to deduce that most of the 5 star reviews left here for them are also dishonest
Btw: the new AC contractor I was assigned to, Ritchie Refrigeration - (623) 302-4533 provided excellent service. It's a small business where the owner comes out to work on your AC problem. Ritchie provided very professional and prompt service. He has no online presence, so I can only really leave a great review for him here. If you have an AC problem, don't hesitate to reach out to Ritchie for professional, honest service.
