From my wife:
You know that panic you feel when your hair dresser tells you she's leaving the state!!!? If you've never had that you want no part of it! So recently after getting a grip after my hairdresser of 7 years abandoned me I did some searches for potential salons to adopt me. Some really uplifting Yelp reviews pointed to the hair artists at Identity Salon 24/7 in las Vegas. My first thought was "crap I can't tell if these guys know how to handle ethnic hair..."
Let me prefix by saying I have ethnic hair, normally wearing it permed and kept straight with a nighttime wrap ritual. (So easy to maintain and just get up and go in the morning). I also don't like to heat blast my hair and typically seek a soft bouncy appearance. In my experience ethnic hairdressers achieve that look with ethnic hair by flat ironing the crap out if it, perming it and flat ironing the crap out of it or putting in a weave. I usually leave feeling mildly abused after getting my hair done at a primarily ethnic Salon. I've always sought the New York Dominican hair styling approach, since this gives me results I want. So today I decided to
test the waters with a hair wash. (It's been 7 weeks since my last relaxer). I called Identity and after asking the right questions, was referred to Javona. God was with me this day! The salon atmosphere was airy and modern. I instantly loved the decor and already felt good being there. I was greeted by the attendant with a list of complimentary beverages.(WHAT?!) It was unpretentious. Javona was incredible. She listened to what I liked and the look i wanted to achieve. She was so personable and easy to talk to. She washed and gave me a blow style and not once did I feel my scalp singe from a too hot blow dryer, nor did I feel
that constant tugging I'm used to when getting my hair done. I was really surprised and excited by her technique. I never knew soft bounce could be achieved with relaxed hair in this manner! I have found my new home.
Thank you Javona! You are a Golden Goddess of Hair!
