| - I recently had a issue with my cell phone, which displayed "Emergency Only" and would not allow me to make or receive any phone calls or texts. I visited the Bell store on the 2nd floor of Eaton Centre and spoke with a representative about the problem. He first asked me if I had remembered to pay my bill. I had paid it so that was not the problem. Next, he told me that it was likely a SIM card problem and that I would have to pay $5 for a replacement and, in addition, I would have to mail my phone in to get it fixed. I asked if he could fix it in the store and that I didn't think it was fair for me to pay considering that I had only bought the phone in January. He said there was nothing he could do and that was that. I decided to look for another Bell store and found one conveniently located on the 1st floor of Eaton Centre. I was greeted promptly by one service rep who, after listening to my problem, brought me to the service tech at the back of the store. He took my phone, examined it and looked through for the settings and tried simple fixes such as turning the phone off and on and removing the battery & SIM card for a minute. Next, he decided to try giving me a new SIM card. This didn't actually solve the problem but he went through with it, even caring enough to make sure that I wouldn't lose my contact list. As a last resort, he concluded that it was likely a software glitch on my phone causing the problem and that he would try resetting it all. He warned me that it would mean that all my text messages would be gone, which I was fine with if it meant fixing the phone. He asked me to wait for a bit while he took it to the backroom to work on it. When he came back just about 10 minutes later, the phone was good to go. I was extremely appreciative of all his help, especially considering the lackluster customer I received from their counterpart just upstairs in the same mall.
SUMMARY : 2nd floor Bell is crappy and lazy. 1st floor Bell is where you should go if you actually want some service!!!
