| - I happen to be a good cook and I would rate the Buffet at 3.5 stars. The roast beef was very good and not skimpy. The pate was decent, as was the creamed macaroni w/ "truffles". For the $40 basic cost, with tax and tip, the food was up to par. For that price I don't expect to have the diversity of top end French recipes. What I don't understand is how you can have a French buffet and NOT serve Beef Bourguignon. Almost all the ingredients are there in various locations (mushrooms, bacon, beef, soup), you just need to add some burgundy wine, and pearl onions and cook it down. You don't need to use a fine Rothschild wine!! The cranberry rolls that were available at the time were very hard, but still tasty. The other item I would change is to offer to gratinee the onion soup, which was good and NOT over salted. Again, add a slice of bread and the cheese, available at one of the stations, and you're there. The desert crepes were very good - freshly made and satisfying large. (I was looking for a taste of Brandy in the apple crepe but could not detect it.) The cheesecake was also good. I was able to skip the line by making a reservation the day before. The service was OK - typical of the buffets in town.
