  • There's a reason Home Fur Good was just named the best shelter in Phoenix...because IT IS. The staff and volunteers are always willing to do whatever it takes to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of the animals in their care. They go above and beyond in every way possible. Dogs that were deemed unadoptable have been rehabilitated and adopted out. They bring in the best trainers to work with dogs with behavioral issues and spend money on veterinary care to save lives. Because they care so much, the staff and volunteers do not just adopt out animals to anyone who walks in the door. Every effort is made to match the right animal with the right home. The future happiness and well-being of the animals depends on the sound judgement of the staff and volunteers in selecting the best possible home for each animal. Because Home Fur Good is a small, private shelter who doesn't kill animals to make room for new animals, it is unfortunately not possible for them to help every animal that needs help. They do go above and beyond in trying to assist people with the proper placement by providing a list of other rescues and shelters to call as well as low-cost spay neuter options, trap neuter and release programs, low cost veterinarians etc. As part of their commitment to responsible pet ownership, HFG operates a very reasonably priced dental clinic and vaccine clinic where the general public can receive top-notch care at reduced cost. All proceeds are used to rescue dogs and cats and provide for their care. I have volunteered for several animal shelters and foster-based animal rescues, and in my opinion Home Fur Good is the best of the best!
