Had my PRK surgery on 4/11/14. Dr. Perkins was great. He met up with me the day of the surgery. While we were waiting for the Valium to kick in we chatted and I had many questions about the surgery. He informed me of everything he was doing every step of the way. The surgery only took 10 minutes for both eyes. The next day Saturday morning (5 am) one of the bandages(contact lenses) fell out of my eye. I will not lie it was painful. My eye stung and was tearing up for a couple hours . However when I called the After hours number they got me in as quickly as they could and put in a new bandage. I was off work from Friday(day of the surgery) until the following Wednesday. My vision was not perfect at that point, it was blurry. I work with computers 8 hours a day in an office setting. I recommend taking a full week off work. With PRK the recovery time takes longer. I would say be patient with your recovery. Everyday your vision will get better . I read many horror story reviews which freaked me out. I think like anything some people will have a quicker recovery and some people's healing will take longer depending on many factors, age, genetics, prescription, etc. I am 36 years old my, contact lenses prescription for both eyes was -2.25 just to give you an idea. I am so happy I had the surgery done. It is so nice not wearing glasses or contacts anymore. My vision is now 20/15. I went in for my last follow up with Dr. Schiff yesterday , he too is an awesome doctor. I am very happy with Barnet Dulaney Perkins eye center. The staff is very professional and always greeted me every time I was at the office. I definitely recommend Barnet Dulaney Perkins to everyone.
