Managed by two sicilians, the place is unusual for Pittsburgh. It has a feel of being on West Broadway in SoHo. Even the sign outside is un-Pittsburgh: custom-made metalworks. Obviously the two co-owners have put a signature on it. Lets talk food: the southern italy influence is evident from reading the menu. But instead of the usual mass-produced menus for your average run-of-the-mill trattoria, the menu carefully offers what I would suggest to be a "regional sicilian" repertoire of culinary offerings. Sure, it is pricey, but try that yourself in finding quality foods and preparing them the way they do. As for the ambience: the place is small, with tables favoring more the one-on-one meetups. Nice for a date. Away from the busy Carson Street three blocks away, with its roaming teen-agers, the place really targets those that WANT to come here to spend a pleasant 60 minutes.
