  • My update on them was flagged , and I wanted to mention still that I got insulting msg's from someone attached to Silk after my negative reviews. They also post 'fake' good reviews on the site, which you can read yourself. Now, onto my review. I decided to buy a deal from Silk Salon for a Mani/Pedi. Why buy a deal when I know that a lot of salons that participate in these have bad reviews? Well, because they are an Aveda Salon. But let me tell you, Aveda salon, but not Aveda standards, no, nope, no. My hair salon being one place I can compare it to as far as what Aveda service (should) look like. I don't think they should be able to advertise or sell Aveda products at this place, they are that bad. I wasn't offered anything to drink until 20 minutes into my manicure, and then it was just a bottle of water because the manicurist said it was all they had. I started with the manicure, and the job was mediocre. She barely talked to me even though I tried to engage her in conversation a few times. She told me that all I was getting was a mini-manicure because that's what the deal was for. Well, they should've been clearer when advertising the deal, because it said 'Full Service Mani/Pedi'. I got my pedicure done by a different girl, and she was nice enough, but she didn't talk to me either. It felt like they were there to collect a paycheque, and not really into customer service. The one employee was complaining how one of the balls of her chairs had fallen off and it hurt her back and that she should get a new chair. As well she mentioned that they should put better lighting in the back area as well. She didn't exfoliate my feet for more than 30 seconds each foot. Total pet peeve of mine. I go to these places, because they have the tools, and should use them, which makes it different that me doing myself at home. I honestly felt I could've done a similar job, which is sad. The nail polish job was ruined, because the polish was applied so thickly, that it couldn't dry, despite being under a dryer for 10 minutes. As well, I got home and my finger nail had already chipped - this was a full 1.5 hours after the mani had been done. This surprised me because I normally can never get my nailpolish off after mani's since they have a durable top coat. So needless to say I removed the polish 20 minutes after I got home. Lastly, while I was having my pedi dried, and was sitting in a hairwashing station, a hairstylist sat on the pedi chair I was in, and started eating her lunch on it, as the pedicure technician was trying to clean it. It wasn't professional at all. I've solidified the fact that I will never use another deal for a salon again, unless it's a reputable one - meaning it has good Yelp reviews of course!
