| - I was so excited to try this place that I hate to say I was pretty disappointed. I LOVE how the place is decorated - makes for such a vintage, cozy atmosphere. As far as the cakes go, I wasn't impressed at all. We tried three of the five options, and all were pretty bad. As an avid baker, I can say that the cakes weren't just dry and chalky because they had been sitting out all day (we got there right before they closed), but simply because they weren't baked well. The strawberries & creme looked so beautiful, but the icing was hard as a rock (how???) and the cake was SO DENSE and literally crumbled apart when you touched it. The chocolate cake and buttercream icing had great flavor, but same thing - so so dense, falling apart, and hard to eat. Lastly, the vegan chocolate raspberry was hands down the best, the most moist (but still unbelievably dense) and the icing was actually really good and edible. For $6.50 a slice that is truly not a very big one, it was not worth it in the least. I hope that we just came on an off night and this is not the norm. Regardless, we won't be returning.
