| - Closer to 3.5 stars, but because I probably wouldn't go back to this place I will round down.
The service was excellent.. but we go for the steak not the service.
We went here based on the reviews on Yelp. We got reservations for new years eve night. It was pretty dead inside when we arrived.. we were quite surprised because it sounded busy when we called earlier.
The bread was above average.. just one kind, a loaf they give you. They brought a 2nd one when we finished.
The filet which we ordered I'd have to describe as a cross between ruth chris and flemings. It was seasoned a little like flemings, and there was the hot butter like ruth chris. It was on par with both of those chains, so you should know what I'm talking about. Once you get to these quality of steaks, it's really the seasoning and flavoring that makes the difference, and the seasoning here was about a 2.5
The creme brulee was superb.. one of the best I've had.. I'd recommend it.
They don't have french fries, or a good selection of warm chocolate desserts like Morton's or Fleming's We love chocolate so we were let down a little. .
They have a bowl of complimentary jelly beans, and the bathrooms here were excellent. There's a bathroom butler, and he walked in right when I was washing my hands offering a towel.. how did he know I was finished? A little creepy.. There was a tip jar in there with $100 bills showing. A little tempting for the partiers who walk in off the street who need to use the loo.
At about 1 minute to midnight on NYE, all the staff stopped whatever they were doing and ran to the top of the parking garage to watch the fireworks. Prior to that, they had ESPN on until 10 minutes to midnite.. who wants to watch ESPN on NYE?? I don't even think they had any live games on.
Overall we just wanted to try this place, and were not wowed by the steak. I still like CUT as my favorite, with flemings being my 2nd favorite for a steakhouse of this caliber. We would go back though if someone else wanted to go.. the steak was quite good.. but I couldn't stop thinking of the steak at CUT... we ended up going there the next night.
