Not as touristy as some of the other places on old town cave creek, but a decent blend of cheesiness and vintage old west decor.
The fried chicken is what we came for, based on other yelp reviews, and it proved to be just what we were looking for.
Call me crazy, but I do tend to measure fried chicken against KFC, not that KFC is the gold standard, but it does provide a good measuring stick.
Toad's fried chicken has a good crispy exterior that generously coats the entire piece. I would have liked a little more salt and juiciness to the meat itself (brine or buttermilk?), but if you ensure that each bite is a blend of skin/meat, you'll be happy.
Fried are some of the best in CC, and the slaw is right up there as well.
All in all, this meal hit the spot and we WILL come back again for the fried chicken.
