Had a curious, and frustrating experience at Bell Toyota end of June, 2015. The salesman was OK at first. The "sales manager" was very friendly until he found out we were paying cash and not financing. He was outwardly disgusted when we disagreed on the value of our trade. Blue Book and Edmunds said $4300 - he offered $2500 (come on). We arrived at a new car net price-with-trade and we requested to talk about it alone for a while. He came back later and while the value of the trade miraculously went up to $6000 - the new net purchase price somehow went up $1000????? - OBVISOULY HE THOUGHT WERE WERE STUPID! WHAT A SLEEZY UNSULTING TACTIC! Not wanting to play games we told them we wanted to think about it over night.
Since they were the only dealership with our color in stock, I called the salesman the next morning and gave our new offer- based on TruCar, Edmunds and Kelly Blue. He said he'd check with his manager and call back. He never called back all day! I called him the next morning, gave my offer again and told him we are ready to buy today. He said he would "have to wait for his manager to get in" and would call me back by 10:30 am. I thought that was a bit odd. Does Bell Toyota only have 1 sales manager for the entire dealership? After no response all morning, I called back at noon and left a message that I would give him until 1:00 and would then have to shop somewhere else.
At 1:30 we gave up on dealing with Bell Toyota and did find the color we wanted at Camelback Toyota. We got an even better deal than we had offered Bell and were treated great at Camelback. Bell obviously plays games with people and I guess they must already have all the money they want? Never heard of a customer badgering a dealership to sell them a car - very funny! Would not even give us the courtesy of a counter offer, or trying to work us on a deal, or even return our calls - amazing?!? Would highly warn you to stay away from Bell Toyota.
