| - I hired Action Painting Pros, LLC in the Spring of 2017 to paint my kitchen cabinets. The owner came by, looked at my cabinets and their condition and said her company could definitely achieve the desired result I was looking for. She recommended that I use a special, fast drying and durable paint from PPG called Breakthrough.
I did my homework on the paint and wasn't sure because I really wanted a sheen on the doors and that particular product only comes in 2 finishes- Satin or Gloss. I struggled with this because I really wanted a semi gloss look. In the end I decided to go with Gloss and the day before I was scheduled to have my cabinets painted, I changed my mind and went with Satin instead.
Jennifer called me and said that the paint was already ordered so if I wanted to have the Satin that I would have to purchase 2 gallons and still pay for the other 2 gallons of gloss. She said she would help me out and work with her rep on getting me a discount as the price per gallon was roughly $54.
When it came time to do the job, of course Jennifer wasn't able to give me a discount and played it off. I would have been fine if she just told me upfront there was nothing she could do but to say you will do what you can to get me a break and then not do anything is what is very disappointing. LIE #1
The interesting thing about this paint is that the labels for when they were ordered are both printed on top of the cans. They were both ordered on the same day within an hour of each other. LIE #2
I moved on from that and decided to just eat the $110 and get the job done. They showed up that Monday and prepped and
started priming the cabinet fronts. They took the doors off site and sprayed them which took about a week, maybe less.
Before all of this, actually getting a firm appointment scheduled was extremely frustrating. My first appointment was not correct and it seemed like a lot of 'errors' putting me down on the wrong day when I believe she was not being truthful and moving me around to accommodate other jobs she needed to get done.
Once my doors were completed, I noticed a few did not look great. I had a total of 27 and about 8 of them needed to be redone. Getting that done took another 2 months. I remained patient and decided not to let it get the best of me. All I wanted were my cabinets to look great.
The guy that did the job had his kid come in and hang the doors and they were not hung properly (some were not aligned with the adjacent door). This resulted in the holes for my hardware not being aligned.
I spent a lot of money on my hardware and almost all of them were installed unevenly or crooked.
On top of all of this, I received the extra 2 gallons of the gloss PPG and noticed that one of the Gloss cans was half empty and had paint dripping down the label. Again, I overlooked this because I really didn't want to deal with this company any more and wanted the job done.
I decided to hire someone else to come in and fix the hardware, which resulted in me paying an extra $100. The cabinet guy told me screws in the hinges didn't match (some were flat and others were Philips). One was completely stripped.
About 3 months after the doors were completed, I started noticing vertical cracks popping up under the paint in about 5-7 of the cabinets. I contacted the company and she had the PPG paint rep come to look at it.
The final conclusion from Action Painting Pros and PPG was that something was wrong with the veneer on my cabinets and I would have to pay to have them repaired- imagine that!
You would think after EVERYTHING that I put up with that she could AT LEAST fix these 5 cabinets at no cost but obviously she is not willing to do that.
At this point, I will never do business with this company again and would implore anyone reading these reviews to take this into consideration. Also look online at their complaints with the BBB.
