| - We stayed here when in town for our wedding and also had our out of towners stay here. We first booked with Marriott nearly a year in advance, having received a good group rate from them through Busrates.com. Their event coordinator, Kristy, was really helpful in dealing with our out-of-towners, many of whom were coming from outside of Canada and had plenty of questions. They made the room block booking a very easy process and - unlike many other hotels in Toronto, which require minimums or guarantees - we were at no risk for unbooked/cancelled rooms (provided they were cancelled at least 24 hours in advance). Considering the location and quality of hotel, we got a great rate for our group.
The location of the hotel is awesome - directly above the Bloor/Yonge subway station, which was a big reason why we booked here. Our wedding venue was right by the St. Clair subway station so we wanted easy access for our guests to get both there and to other hot spots in the city.
The rooms were very clean. We (and several of our guests) wound up on the first floor with courtyard views so nothing particularly scenic. When I lived in the area I had thought that the large tower was part of the Marriott but I believe they really only have 6 floors and the tower isn't actually a rent-by-day hotel. I could be wrong. The rooms though were comfortable. We didn't watch any tv, so can't comment on that, but they were consistently cleaned and the beds were comfy.
There isn't a pool which was a con for some guests. The biggest drawback was that they were in the midst of elevator renovation so it would take a really long time to get an elevator and there weren't really stairs to use to go down one flight. Other than that I don't really have any complaints. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean, and for a group with about 20 rooms everything was pretty smooth from check-in to check-out.
I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a group hotel in a very accessible part of Toronto.
