  • Ok, so a lot of people have been asking "why do people call this a 3 star hotel?" Well, I call it a 3 star Motel, personally. It's a motel, so if you're looking for the ultimate strip experience it's not here...but, 1. if you're looking for a decent motel near the convention center to work 2. or you're driving with your family on a road trip to or from Utah & you don't want the kids to see the dirty channels, this is a great place to stay. I did see band members here on tour for low key stay but I'd say it's more fun to stay on the strip if you're a tourist passing through. It seems like a lot of people were disappointed in this place expecting a hotel, which is understandable. We saw a girl's soccer team there, no hookers :) although in Vegas, don't be surprised if a few characters come every now & then in any hotel. I have to say that working tradeshows as a model/host a lot at the Convention Center for magic, CTIA, CES, etc I pass by this place a lot & it stands out more than the other motels around it. I think it's super cute that they put a fun Mardis Gras theme on the place, they didn't have to do that. I love the layout of the room how it has an old fashioned TV in the living room area & not in front of the bed. We were, however, able to take the remote to the bed & watch it from there if we wanted. I also really liked the fridge & the mini bar, great for hosting guests that come to your temporary humble abode. While the TV is old-fashioned with not many channels, it has the BEST ones! All family friendly. Animal Planet, Discovery Channel. We normally just watch fox shows & SNL anyway. To be honest, for us it was super clean & no problem with the air conditioning. I was actually cold, haha! There are stains (old ink stains, carpet stains--too bad they don't have darker carpet & sheets, that's what other hotels do), a few holes in corners, & I would suggest they take just a little time to putty those & staple the carpet in a few places, but you know it's just old. If you don't mind old places, cool. As rumors suggest, it takes a long time to get the hot water running so make sure everyone takes a shower once you do, haha! Any previous complaints on Yelp about bed bugs or loud noises we never experienced. First off, every hotel in Vegas has that--even celebrity hotels get bed bugs so you should always check sheets wherever you go, ya know? & roaches? I've even seen roaches under my feet @ the El Capitan Disney theater in Hollywood because guess what, it's the city & people leave food out. Don't leave food out & you won't have a problem. But this was actually a nice, quiet hotel for us. We never had any critter problems with us & we brought food with us. It was fine! Gosh, these previous reviews really spooked me. I almost wish I'd never read them because I was so paranoid coming here & our 2 day stay here was great! Lastly, I want to mention the customer service was excellent. They were nice. If you give them trouble, they will jest with you but they're really nice. The buffet is not fancy, but it's decent. We got it included in our hotel stay which was quite a deal. It equated to $5 each for my hubby & me. I liked the shredded hashbrowns, sausage, eggs, & biscuits with gravy. The one thing I would suggest is the hotel should supply hot chocolate & tea--they only have coffee & OJ, & hot water for the instant oatmeal (which--the brown sugar is a total teaser, I thought they would have real oatmeal. Darn!) it's a step above the continental for sure. Make sure to bring your own tea & hot chocolate just in case. We make sure to tip the waiter at least a little because even though it's self-serving they bus the tables. The bar is really fun. I recommend staying here on business because the casino/bar is small & the staff is like family. The bartender was showing us pics of his home in Seattle--hard copies! Super authentic. Friendly. You can tell them about your day at work & they will listen. & if you need a Bloody Mary after the buffet breakfast to take with you to the pool, they use Sriracha infused vodka. Yummy & spicy! & they salt the rims with love. The pool area was full of kids & people of all ages on Saturday, quieter other days. Family friendly. Then there's a fun roof area right by there that looks fun to have a picnic under the stars & pretend you're in the Pompei ruins. Anyway this place is old, ecclectic, & good for cheap stays, private projects, & big families or group stays. One more suggestion for this motel--get it AAA accredited to protect from poor reviews. You guys definitely have what it takes!
