| - The place is really nice, high ceilings, looks modern and even has a fire pit outside. It's located right alongside Taschereau, perfect for everyone to see when passing by.
I came here 2 days after opening day, workers were still in training, so the slow service was understandable. When ordering we were asked if we wanted the points card,we took one not knowing we were being charged for it.(Cashiers should mention it's an extra cost BEFORE charging the customer). It's ridiculous that you have to pay for a points card,it gives you no rebates just a free ice cream after the 8th purchase.
We took 2 gelato scoops chocolate and pear. The pear was good and refreshing. We also took a banana split sundae and a maple sundae. (7.99$ each).
The sundaes had a generous amount of toppings. I expected the top to be drizzled with sauce and not with the dipping chocolate which hardened instantly.
This Chocolato ice cream shop is similar to Chocolate Favoris in Dix30,similar in ice cream flavours and in pricing.
I had high hope for this place and unfortunately the taste didn't match the prices. (Not to mention having to pay for the loyalty card is not a good marketing strategy).
----------------------------------------------
I went back the following weekend for another sundae...
I forgot to bring my loyalty card that I had purchase the first time. I asked a cashier at first if I could comeback to get the points she said "yes with the receipt". Upon order, I asked again to be certain if I could comeback and get my points she said "no it's done on the spot". (Lack of communication and training). I was basically in the situation of having to purchase another points card or just let the 6 ice creams I was purchasing go to waste. So I paid again for another loyalty card (ripoff).
I took the Fruit loops sundae, 2 gelato scoops and a cornet Chocolato.
Everything was just underwhelming...
The fruit loops sundae was average in taste, the hardened strawberry dipping chocolate just looked like a blob on top of my ice cream. The cornet Chocolato was just a gelato scoop with a dipping chocolate, that started melting before we even left the building.
Staff communication: 2/5
Taste: 2.5/5
Location: 4/5
Biggest turn off: Paying for a points card
Chcolato VS Chocolate Favoris: Chocolate Favoris
Disappointing I was really looking forward to this place..
