| - I brought my dog, a 3 year old shitzu to the petsmart on Mayo location this morning for a haircut. It's the 3rd time I have brought him here and to the same groomer, her name is Lizette. When I arrived to get him I picked him up and immediately noticed he was red on his private part. It looked actually like a scuff or burn mark but bright red.
The groomer that shaved him then immediately walked over and said "I didn't cut him, he was like that before I shaved him", and "also he kept licking it when he arrived". I just said that he hasn't been licking or anything before I dropped him off , also if that big red mark was already there, I would have already called in and canceled my appointment because I wouldn't want him to come in since the red mark/cut wasn't small.
The groomer kept saying that she didn't cut him and that I could talk to the manager. Finally she called the manager and that ended up being pointless. The groomer immediately told the manager again that she didn't cut my dog and that he came like that. The manager inspected the obvious red marks and said "well you can take him to the vet and see if it's a cut or something else.".......okay, so now I have to pay to visit the vet to inspect the wound? Because she didn't offer me to pay for it, and also now I have to go prove that my dog got cut by the groomer?
So now it's an awkward/uncomfortable situation where they are obviously taking a stance that it's not their fault but yet my dog has fresh red marks on his body after they shaved him. I realized there was nothing more to say or anything they would acknowledge or do so I paid and then left with my poor dog.
I was still upset when I returned home and took pictures of the marks on my dog. Also I noticed something...where the red marks are the hair is shaved extremely short...every where else on his private the hair is much longer. Finally, after a few hours of being home the area that is red is now swollen. To me it is obvious he was cut.... (looks like razor rash)
I chose to write this review/complaint because I think the situation was totally handled wrong by them.
First, If the groomer noticed the red marks before she started...why wasn't I immediately called so that then there is no misunderstanding later. Or why she didn't come up and tell me right when I picked up my dog.
Second, if I pick up my dog after he was there w her for 3-4hours and he does have a mark on him that I never noticed before why is the onus on me to prove it wasn't there? by telling me to have a vet look at him to prove what the mark is...is again rude to the customer who is only concerned about her pet.
There was no apology and no suggestion of a proper remedy for situation. Only a repetitive claim that the groomer is innocent.
I'm also putting up the picture I took as soon as I returned home and people can see for themselves how red it is...how it looks like a shave burn..and how the hair is shaved much closer in that location.
