A great location for hiking not so much for camping.
The campground parking pads for your camper are nice, but the camp pad that your bench sits or where you might pitch tents is graded rock/dirt. It would puncture any tent floor or air mattress. They need to spread DG nicely over every camp area like many of the other Maricopa Regional Parks do.
Also, beware of the military flight pattern that constantly flys directly over the park. Very peaceful.
Speaking of peaceful! Let's not forget the maintenance worker that shows up at the park at 6am, parks his water truck next to the bathrooms with the DIESEL motor running and the radio blasting with the door open while he cleans the bathrooms.....for 45 minutes.
Then he races through the camp areas spraying water on the road.
Regarding reserving or securing a spot at this park. I arrived to find the pay envelope container LOCKED! Who puts a LOCK on a pay envelope container??? You WANT that UNLOCKED so people can get an envelope and PAY for a spot!
They also have a sign up that is supposed to indicate what camp spots are open, that is not current nor are ANY of the old slips of paper that are attached to each camp post. The reservation system is a joke, it should be first come, first served and leave it at that.
