I did have an overall good experience with this apartment complex. I originally rented with them because I was in a pinch and they were the best value. When I moved in they started renovations on the outsides of the buildings and the place really cleaned up nicely. Of course when it came time to renew the lease I was hit with over a $100 rent increase which I am sure was to help fund all their renovations.
Everything else was great there so I stayed despite the huge rent increase. They kept everything clean, stayed on top of maintenance, and were very proactive about every issue that came up. The complex is ran very professionally and I never had a problem that they didn't fix immediately.
However, after I moved out I received a bill for cleaning charges and for carpet cleaning. The charges are for the normal cleaning that must be done before a new tenant could move in. I want to make it clear, these are normal charges that the complex incurs for every tenant that moves out to prepare the place for the next tenant. They were not for additional cleaning or for anything above normal wear and tear that I did to the apartment. They are required to do this for each tenant and for some reason they decided to charge me $245 for these fees. I disputed the charges and was told that it was normal policy but they were "willing to waive a portion of the fees" for me. I ended up forfeiting my security deposit to pay the fees. I will also note that a portion of my security deposit was used towards paying my final utilities fees so I was not charged the full amount for the cleaning. However I still find it ridiculous they even attempted to charge me for it in the first place.
