  • This is a free zoo, but as far as free zoos go, this one is awesome (the first comparison that comes to mind - the National Zoo in Washington, DC). The grounds are walkable, the animals span a large variety (though not a huge number...but again, it's a free zoo!), and they even have carousal and train rides for the kids (those you pay $2 for). The parking lot is small, and the front entrance is a little confusing (a big chain link fence/door), but just walk right in and enjoy!
