  • Having used Matthews Moving in the past - unloading only, I recommended them for my Mothers move locally here in the Charlotte area. I discussed the moved with their planner and she recommended 5 hours to complete the move. This included 1 hour drive time. At the time I did not agree because of the small amount of furniture and boxes but we both agreed any adjustment would be made at the end of the move. Lets just say these 3 movers had already planned for 5 hours. After the first 45 minutes I was wondering why they had stopped loading. As I stepped outside - all 3 movers were standing at the back of the truck smoking etc. This is when I knew we paying for 5 hours. They did not come prepared with mats for the carpet, tape etc. Upon arriving at the new location - same issues however we finally had to tell them we were leaving so that it would not go over 5 hours. I called on the following Monday and spoke the planner who informed me that she would pass along my issues with the owner. After a few days passed I called back and was told the owner - Mrs. Matthews was out sick. I also spoke with the Operations Manager Mike B. who informed that she was out sick but would address my issues upon her return to work. The following week - I called again and Mike B. again informs me Mrs. Matthews is still out sick - I quote " Hospital Sick ". I said ok I would wait until the following day. Upon calling again the lady who answered the phone had informed me Mrs. Matthews was on vacation and would return the following week. I said I was told she was out sick - She replied with a laugh nope on vacation. I would not recommended this company unless you want to play the role of Supervisor of Movers because your complaint will not be addressed.
