Politics aside, I was helped by an exceedingly friendly staff who offered me samples, talked to me about their store, my life story, etc. I found the whole experience pleasant (and yes I am one of those awful left-leaning types). Certainly some of the friendliest service I received in any business of any kind on a three month road-trip around America.
I agree with what some folks have said, a dollar for a small donut is a bit steep. That said, these were incredibly rich and flavorful, well worth the cost as a treat though not as a regular breakfast item. The varieties of flavors were wonderful, as were the experiments the donut-makers were willing to run in order to come up with new donuts down the road. A true craft-oriented store in my opinion, and well worth a visit every once in a while, even if it's a bit pricey (both monetary and calorically) for your daily breakfast.
