| - My girlfriend found this market while I was away at work and told me that we had to go when I was home.. So we went and stocked up on Thanksgiving ingredients this weekend. A nice market, comfortable vibe, not crazy busy at the time that we were there. One thing I have been looking for since moving here from the East Coast was GOOD maple syrup, so major plus when one of the first vendors had loads of Quebec syrup and honey.
Not the biggest market I have been to, but overall pretty good. The main produce vendor there (Chongos) was very big and lots of selection and very well priced compared to other markets. A few beef and bison vendors, but I did not see a chicken vendor there. I refuse to buy supermarket chicken, so that would be good to have there!
One strike against the market was the cluttered, crowded, overall unnecessary "flea market" booths out back. To go from a nice area with the food and craft vendors, to the booths of selling crap and Chinese knock off items was a downer. But it can be avoided if it's not your thing. Waste of space that could house more good vendors though!
Not sure which I prefer, Crossroads or the Calgary Market, both have their own charm and pros and cons but I will go back to Crossroads any time!
