  • Had a day to kill and Phoenix Zoo was a fun place to do it. The selection of animals to see honestly wasn't that impressive, but the interactive activities made up for it. I mean, who doesn't want to feed a giraffe or ride a camel sometime in their life? I will say that this zoo is more geared towards younger children so it's more of a place for a young family to spend the day. If you only buy the regular admission ticket for $25, expect to have to pay to do a lot of other things in the zoo (i.e. the safari train, stingray, camel ride). So if you're able to do everything included in the Total Experience Ticket, I would definitely recommend just paying for that. Also makes you feel better because otherwise you would have to individually pay for all the cool stuff. Giraffe feeding: only like 30 seconds, but it was totally worth the $6 to get giraffe saliva all over your hand. Highlight of the day (no I'm not joking) Camel ride: You get about 2 rounds around a track and I kind of felt bad for the camel who didn't seem like it wanted to walk anymore. But at least I got a nice picture? Safari train: kind of lame with the obviously scripted jokes, but a good way to see what's in the zoo and learn some animal facts Dinosaurs in the desert: only kids will find this fun. If you are over 10 years old, do not pay for this. Also confused why this was an exhibit in the zoo... probably to make up for the lack of real animals here? Stingray: this was kind of cool, but pretty hard to actually touch the stingrays since you really had to reach your arm in. 4-D Theater: watched the Ice Age short, which was pretty cute. Again, kind of random to have at a zoo, but I enjoyed it. Carousel: I'm in my 20s and definitely got judged going on this, but it was fun! And plus, unlimited rides included with the Total Experience ticket- wasn't about to waste $. Overall, it was a fun day to go as a tourist. Probably would not go back again, but made some fun memories.
