| - We stopped in at Blue Hound on a Friday night, surprised to find it much less busy than expected. We seated ourselves at the side bar and were promptly greeted and given menus. The cocktail list is intriguing and extensive, without being overwhelming. The food menu had a number of great options--a mix of comfort food and little plates that all sounded delicious. We went with the cheese board, which--at $22--was a bit pricey, was well worth it. It was comprised of 3 different cheeses(a manchego, an aged cheddar, and a delightfully funky sheeps' milk cheese), plus marcona almonds, prosciutto, Granny Smith Apple slices, dates, coarse mustard, pickled green beans, pickled peppers, and a lovely spiced flatbread and a soft brown bread. I ordered the Brown Derby, a bourbon based cocktail that was exactly what I'd been craving--a wonderful balance of sweet and tangy. Hubby had the Zombie, and it was the best Zombie we've ever had. Overall, Blue Hound is the perfect spot for date night--laid back but still romantic and interesting(without being pretentious), and the service was top notch.
