  • I've been to NASCAR races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway several times over the years and overall, this track is fine. It is not my favorite place to watch racing or attend races, but being in Las Vegas it makes it a desirable destination, which is likely why they are getting a second race in 2018. The absolute BEST thing about the Las Vegas Motor Speedway when it comes to NASCAR events is the Neon Garage. The idea was ingenious and the application is so much fun. On my most recent visit I did not go to the Neon garage, but I've been a few times before and it is a great experience for fans to get a look at a little more behind the scenes and an opportunity to possibly meet NASCAR personalities and get autographs. Another thing I like is that they have most of the fan experience things that go on outside the track on the OUTSIDE of the area where you need tickets to get in. Fontana used to have that and it was wonderful, but now you have go in first to see anything. I love that Las Vegas, like Charlotte MS has all of that available to access without having to get a ticket for the race or without having to do the whole in and out thing when you're buying stuff and you want to put it in your car. Good job! The track itself is one of my least favorites for watching a race because for some reason it's design lends itself to strung out driving; fans always get ribbed about watching cars go in a circle and this is a track where that is so true. Of course there is some side by side racing and passing, but for the most part races here are uneventful and the cars get spaced out and basically just drive in circles. Not very exciting. Don't get me wrong, I feel like ANY live race is very exciting. I love attending races, I'm just being diligent in pros and cons for LVMS. What I DISLIKE about this track is they are kind of jerks about what you can bring in. They have a ONE BOTTLE OF WATER rule which is absolute CRAP. Its HOT. You're sitting in a metal stand with the sun beating in your face for hours and you can't bring your own water? Thats just cheap. Oddly LVMS is owned by the same company as Charlotte and they have very relaxed rules there about what you can bring in! In fact, they have the BEST. RULES. EVER. at Charlotte, but I digress. It sucks that they dont allow you to bring water bottles and that each person only gets ONE SINGLE SERVE food item (i.e. no family size bag of Doritos, but a SINGLE serve bag is okay and that is your meal for the day). CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP Not everyone can afford the exorbitant prices that are charged for food and drink. I'm happy that my home track in Fontana allows us to bring in non-alcoholic beverages and food/snacks. Thats how fans should be treated. So, I have this scale where I'm weighing the positive of the fan zone and the negative of the disallowing personal items in and this one just really ticks me off... it tips the scale. Parking is okay... I think it could be a value to pay for the Lucky 7 parking and get out of the lots before everyone else (you get an hour after the race where only that lot exits), but I will say that over the years, the parking and exiting situation has vastly improved, so, well done there and I don't mind waiting the hour. Its done in a very organized way, so that is good. I have also attended the Christmas light experience at the track and it's nice. You essentially just get in a line and drive around the outside of the track and look at the lights, but being a Christmas light lover, I enjoyed it. I took along my "special" prism glasses and made my experience even better! Its not particularly amazing, but it was fun to do once. Overall, I like LVMS ok. I will probably continue going there once every 4 or 5 years, but would not make an effort to attend more frequently. My biggest disappointment was that there really weren't any big NASCAR activities going on this time whereas in the past, they've had fan events, signings all over town and driver poker tournaments. I mostly heard crickets on this recent race weekend. There are so many tracks I've yet to visit to keep going back to one that just isn't the best racing or as fan friendly.
