| - Please consider this advice if you are considering making an appointment at AAD, and more specifically with Henry Roenigk. I was seen a year ago at AAD for removal of a cyst. A week following my appointment, I accidently pulled my stitches when reaching for my coffee at the Starbucks drive-thru. I returned promptly to AAD to have them resutured. While I have a significant tolerance for pain, I found it necessary to contact the after hours service complaining of severe pain, fever, and nausea. I was told by Dr Roenigh that he should not have closed the wound and that he failed to provide an RX as an antibiotic. After several hours and tests, I learned that I received a staph infection at AAD earlier that morning. The work completed by AAD had to be reversed in the ER; I had to obtain treatment for an infection along with multiple visits to another provider to remedy the AAD errors.
Over the last year, AAD Risk Management contacted me on many occasions asking for documentation to assist with the additional financial responsibility resulting from their error. Today, 13-months later, I learned from the Office Manager, (Monica) and Risk Management Regional Directors (Paula and Megan) that they decided to not honor prior commitments to assist with the additional bills. Despite documented medical records from other providers validating the source of the infection and incorrect treatment, AAD feels that they are not the root cause of my infection. Risk Mitigation overrides patient care at this office something you should consider when making your appointment with these providers.
My insurance covered many of my expenses, however, my time was lost, along with unnecessary copays, pain and a scars. I cannot change the past, but trust that this review will encourage others to find another provider for their dermatology needs.
