| - I am a big fan of Stage AE when it comes to listening to live music. They have both an indoor and outdoor setting for concerts. The inside is a smallish venue, with a great overall set-up and a fantastic acoustics system, which makes this place almost perfect for a show. I have seen everyone's favorite bands here in the past few years. Indoor shows for Slayer, Anthrax, Sepultura and Social Distortion were absolutely fantastic. There is no seating (unless you are upstairs) so it is first come first serve and standing room only. They have a decent size bar area at the opposite end of the building from the stage just as you enter the building. The beer and booze prices are really reasonable for an event, much lower than going to a ballgame or to other venues for a show. There are always lines for booze, but the staff gets people what they need fairly quickly. The only minor negative is getting into the building, the lines are really long and there is only one line.
The outdoor area is a quite large, bigger than the inside. Again, no seating here, so first come, first serve with plenty of areas up close to the stage or further back. I have taken in outdoor shows like Rob Zombie, Megadeth, Alice Cooper, Rancid and Volbeat. The acoustics outside are really good as well. There are plenty of Port-O-Potties at the opposite side of the stage and a good amount of beer/water/food vendors to the one side of the stage and at the back of the facility.
Since this place is sandwiched between PNC Park and Heinz Field, there is plenty of places to park and plenty of restaurants/bars around it for a little pre-game festivities. Even if your musical taste is not as "cool" as mine, I am certain you will enjoy seeing your favorite bands here or you will enjoy many of the other types of events they hold.
