| - 5-star reviews were misleading.
Based on the positive reviews we read about this establishment, we thought we'd give it a try since we were looking for someplace NOT on the Las Vegas Strip, but still had some indulgences. However, our experience did not meet our expectations. At an average price of $150/night, establishments of this range usually offer better service. We unfortunately did not get much service during our 2 night stay, at least not the kind of service mentioned in the reviews.
CONS:
1) Lack of reception service. (They offer a phone number, but it is rarely answered. Upon arrival, we had to awkwardly search through a busy restaurant with all our belongings on hand in order to find a person to help us check in. Also, when we needed extra pillows or hand soap, there wasn't anyone we could call. You would have to leave your room and find someone in the restaurant to help you.)
2) No stand-up shower in some rooms. (It's either a shower in your room or a bathtub, you can't have both. If you do get a bathtub and want to wash your hair, be prepared to do a lot of squatting.)
3) Breakfast was disappointing. (One review said it was one of the best breakfasts they ever had, but when we got there at 9am, cold frittata was waiting for us. We had to hunt down someone simply to get hot water and a couple of tea bags.)
4) Small TV in room. (About 19" screen mounted high up on the wall. This was very difficult to see what you're watching.)
5) Warning: If you book the Chianti or Beaujolais rooms, know that just outside your door is the common area described as the bbq/kitchen/koi pond area. If people are out there, you WILL hear them.
PROS:
1) Nice big whirlpool tub.
2) Bed was comfortable, but needed more pillows.
3) The croissants were delicious.
4) Location (in the center of town).
A simple improvement to the availability of reception staff would make a night and day difference.
