| - Was not a fan. As someone who tans often, and is pretty tan, I was pretty agitated with my experience from this location. My sister and I had gone in today since we had received coupons for a free tan along with a tanning lotion. Ive known for a while that this business usually does the promo of "first tan free" sort of thing. I had heard from two friends earlier that when they had gone in for spray tans using the same promotion that their spray tans were very light,not strong and could barley see a difference. Today my sister and I decided to give it a try since it was free.
It was very cold today about -15 (thats without the windchill), the salon alone was pretty cold, funny considering it is a tanning salon. We began with giving the man and lady our coupons and they had no idea where we had even got them from, which was concerning since its their own businesses promotion. After filling out our wavers, the woman began to go through the packages since our coupons also provided a 50% offer on packages. She seemed more as though she was regurgitating the information rather than actually being knowledgable, she told us that tanning oil was "mandatory" almost and that its "scientifically proven" that we "needed" them. As someone who tans quick and easy I have never really needed it and the information she provided seemed false and like she was pushing for a sale.
She told us that the lotions would pull out colour which is simply untrue, because thats not how tanning actually works it destroys your skin and as your body's natural defence, it turns darker to protect the skin against the UV rays. Anyways, she then went on about how we HAD to buy eye protection and that it was their new policy, it was not specified on the coupon, not to mention at other tanning salons I go to, they provide protective eye wear for NO cost. I had paid for the eye wear, which while in the machine kept coming undone because they were stick ons not even the actual glasses.
Getting to the actual tanning machine my sister who is slightly fairer than me was recommended 6 minutes since she hasn't tanned in a while, and as she walked me to my room she recommended 6 minutes for me as well, I asked for 2-3 minutes more as I knew I would NOT get results from 6 because I knew I wouldn't see results I usually go for about 8-9, but and kept insisting on 6, even though my coupon had said up to as many minutes I'd like up to the limit and basically WOULD NOT LET ME GET MORE. The machine I was put in was so cold that even putting the fan on the lowest level I was freezing, I had goose bumps nearly the entire experience.
I finished before my sister and the woman felt the need to tell me that their salon was usually packed and how many cancellations they had that day, almost like she wanted me to know that their salon was worthwhile. My sister got out and I could tell she was also irritated and unsatisfied with her experience.
I don't recommend coming here, the free tan is not worth it. The service was unpleasant my sister had said that she felt almost like the lady thought we were stupid and she was taking down to us. She kept emphasizing "scientifically proven" as though that would assure me what she was saying what accurate. Felt super annoyed in general. Not to mention its been about 9ish hours I'd say and I don't see ANY kind of difference, and I ALWAYS do after going for a tan. My sister has no tan at all.
The previous reviews here don't seem to match the actual experience, I wonder if they are bought or made by the businesses colleagues. Don't be fooled!
