Loud and jolly, Au Pied de Cochon is an excellent place to get your arteries clogged. Don't be surprised to find foie gras as the main highlight on the menu, they don't kid with that. Not for the faint of heart - you've been warned.
Our waiter was extremely helpful and hectic, in a good way. He always had a smile on. He actually forgot a coffee order from our table but made it complimentary.
The duck carpaccio was marvelous. There's something extremely satisfying about breaking the egg yolk and spreading all the yellow yumminess over the raw slices of duck. You're chewing on the delicate duck and then POP, a salty jolt runs through your mouth. The salt crystals were really a nice touch. With an adventurous mindset, I've also had the bison tongue. It's kind of hard not to think that you're actually French kissing a bison. With that aside, the tongue was tender and exceptional.
For my main, I had the famous duck in a can. The blob of food that came out of the can was very good. The gravy where the duck was bathing was rich and flavorful. The duck itself was a bit on the tougher side but it was enjoyable regardless.
Now, I highly recommend getting a reservation. I witnessed a couple beg the manager for a table. They even said that it was their last day in Montreal. Unfortunately they weren't given have the chance to try APdC.
