  • Vandermeer Nursery is a large scale operation with a family focused feeling. We have been going to Vandermeer's for about 14 years. What attracted us in the beginning was the annual Christmas open house. The owners and staff go all out and put on a fantastic family experience including free hot apple cider, snacks, a trivia hunt and of course Santa! There is a store-wide discount on all Christmas decorations and this is BEFORE Christmas. We bought an imitation Christmas tree from who we firmly believe to have been the real Mrs. Claus. Husband and wife entertaining families for many years, she spoke with us and seemed to know we needed a little extra Christmas spirit and we got a great deal on the tree we didn't think we could afford. Our son grew up in this nursery (now 18) and loves to go look at the Koi swimming in the ponds, look at all the specialty plants and of course still in awe of the decorations at Christmas. The selection and quality of plants grown here are second to none and we've never been disappointed in any of our purchases. They also support local schools and non-profits by allowing them to sell vouchers for Poinsettia plants as fundraisers.
