| - This review is concerning emergency room services received by my 74 year old cousin, for whom I have healthcare power of attorney. She lives in Yuma, and was discharged from St. Joseph's ICU after surgery for a brain aneurysm.
She received extraordinary care in ICU, HOWEVER, 24 hours after returning home, she was rushed to Yuma Regional Medical Center, then sent by helicopter back to St. Joseph's. She was treated for an unrelated condition in the ER and at that point the medical professionals decided to discharge her.
This discharge decision was made at 7 PM at night. Her husband is disabled, cannot drive and was being cared for by a relative in Yuma. Her children all live out of state.
She was discharged without her clothes (left behind in Yuma) and with NO transportation home. She was 24 hours out of ICU, weak from brain surgery and still released . Fortunately, her relative was able to locate a medical transport service for her at a cost of more than $750.
She arrived home after midnight, sick, weak and exhausted, only to find out the next day that St. Joseph's ER had not sent the prescription to her pharmacy.
"Dignity" healthcare--appears only if you're an inpatient.
