| - Initially I was going to try Pho Basa last week, however they were closed for the day. Lucky for me, District One was open and YELP suggested I go there. Okay!
We arrive and the servers are friendly and seat us fairly quickly. We're told it's happy hour and that's just awesome.
Being an Asian Fusion restaurant, their menu items all intrigued me.
I tried the Yellowtail fish tacos off their HH menu and OMG these were amazing. Though appearing quite small when they serve the two tacos to you, the flavor of the yellowtail, avocado, cilantro, cherry tomato, and lime was out of this world. I wanted to get 2 more orders of these.. but alas, I had to try other things.
The shrimp papaya salad was good. It would have been great if it came with those flat shrimp chips that I've been used to back in Chicago. Something to balance out the tanginess of the dish.
They must really know how to make very good pork belly because we ordered it two ways and both dishes were fantastic. The pork belly in the steamed buns were yummy, bite size treats. The other dish, Slow-Braised Pork Belly in young coconut juice was just so soft and tender and it came sitting in the sauce w/ a boiled egg as well.
There were plenty more unique offerings to try and they also offered a variety of Pho/Soups on the menu. One thing I'll come back to try some time is their Lobster Pho. I keep hearing about it and I want it!
Our experience here was good. The service was fast. And the food was delicious! 5/5.
