I don't normally shop at No Frills but I dropped by today to do some shopping for a family gathering. I had about $300 worth of groceries, and only after everything had been scanned and bagged I was told they don't accept Visa as a form of payment.
It would be great if there was a sign somewhere, or if the cashier had told me that before she started checking me out. It was a huge inconvienance as I had no alternative form of payment on me, so I wasted an hour of my time, and the cashier's time. It was so embarassing to just leave the groceries there with a line up behind me, after I had bagged them, and unfortunately there was no atm where I could withdraw cash either.
It's not like a Visa credit card is an unusual form of payment, I feel as if they may be trying to avoid the transaction fees. Also, they do take Mastercard credit cards as a form of payment. I left and went to the Walmart across the street, which fortunately did take my Visa.
Also just a note - this No Frills has undergone a change in ownership and is now called Shiva & Ramya's No Frills.
