| - Where do I start, this park is part of my youth and holds many great stories in my brain and wonderful feelings deep in my heart. It's a beautiful park and a lot has been done to it over the recent years.
I remember going on field trips as far back as third grade, when I moved to Lakewood and spending whole days there as a youth, just for fun. Friday Night Flicks was movie night held every Friday night at the stage in the front of the park. I'm not sure if they still hold it. Fourth of July fireworks show is by far the parks biggest attraction to this day. We would run around causing trouble, not too much but some. Sometimes we would sit on the hill all the way in the back and just watch ships go by and enjoy the scenery of the Great Lake Erie. They recently put a new walkway system in the back, replaced the whole thing, put nice stone in. Better than the rocky path that used to lead down there. A scope to view downtown has also been added, it's pretty cool.
Lakewood-Foster pool has always been a place I've went to in the Summer, still do actually. I like to catch some rays and jump off the diving board every now and again. Back in the day, the Summer following 7th grade I worked as a swim instructor there. Teaching little kids to swim can be a rewarding experience and I'm glad I got to do it, even though at the time I didn't want to I was forced to.
The Park/Playground has been redone about 5 years ago now, maybe even more. Time flies. It's a fun place and peaceful. There's a war memorial, wielding a huge cannon. It has tennis courts, a skate park, two baseball fields, stage for movies, walking/running track, pavilion for parties, volleyball courts, women's pavilion, kids court and the Oldest Stone House. Beyond all this, like I said it has beautiful scenery, throughout. It's a truly amazing place
