  • This is one of those times that I wish we could issue "half-stars". I would give this Aloft Hotel a 3 1/2 stars if I could. Its good enough to be 3 or 3 1/2 but just not good enough to push it over the top to 4 stars. I am in Charlotte for the week to attend a conference at the local convention center about 4-5 blocks south of the aloft hotel. I called the night before check-in because I saw on their webpage that the noisy side of the hotel faces the epi-center area and I DID NOT want to be on that side. I value my sleep too much. Luckily the front desk person when I called said that she would make sure that I was on a "street-side" room because they are not as noisy. Boy was she right by saying "not as noisy" It may not be as loud as the epi-center side but it is noisy. I am also fortunate that the room provides a set of ear plugs as a standard check in "gift". When I was checking, the lady working the front desk was VERY friendly and helpful. She made me feel very welcome. The room was on the 10th floor overlooking the main city street ( College Street ). The room comes with a mini-fridge, one free water, iron and ironing board. I wasnt super impressed with the cleanliness of the room. There was a large clump of ladies hair ( super long ) on the floor in the bathroom. That grosses me out. A few other things that I found just by using them were 1) toilet paper roll holder was bent and therefore the toilet paper would fall off and hit the floor ( where the large clump of hair was ) 2) the shower head is loose which makes it hard to adjust to my height. If you choose the "green" option and not have a housekeeper come in every day they slide a $5 off food or drink coupon under your door each night which helps pay for breakfast the next morning. 3) I had an adjoining room to someone I didnt know and I could hear pretty much everything they were saying doing including their alarm , tv, conversations. The air / heat works well. If you like to be cool at night you are in the right place. I had the a/c set on 72 and it was freezing me out. This hotel is located in a great place for conventions or sporting events. Walking distance to most major arenas and convention center. They do have valet parking for $25 per day. There are a bunch of restaurants around for you to choose from and several places deliver. From street level you get on a "community" elevator, go to the 5th floor and which is where the lobby is. From there you take another elevator to the floor your room is on. Keep in mind that the elevators are extremely busy between 6-8am and plan a few extra minutes to wait on the elevator. I would stay here again
