Unethical business practice/ price gouging
PLEASE BEWARE everyone do your research!!
Had some work done on my car in January to fix a vacuum leak check engine light code cost $500. (My car was reving on its own about 1000-2000rpm when sitting and I had the car stall on me while driving along with check engine light). Chevy said everything is all set and the issue was fixed. All goes well and then about a week later I start having similar issues again. Not as severe as the first time (car would start to rev on its own about 500-1000 rpm when sitting with car on after driving for sometime). But regardless the issue was supposed to be fixed and it's not. So I take it in and Joseph has it looked at and tells me it's a sensor that's bad it would cost $380 to fix it. Now I'm frustrated because I just spent $500 to fix the problem and now there's something else that's wrong causing the same problem?!? Joseph told me " problems will show face after an old issue is fixed making it noticeable" which seemed like a lame excuse to me. Considering Joseph ran a diagnostic on the vehicle and said that the sensor was giving a check engine code. Now if it was that easy why wasn't it found before with the previous code? Regardless i was upset and said just leave it because I didn't have the money for that right now. I go to pickup the car and as I'm leaving Joseph tells me he would have done the work for $300. At that point I didn't have time and then I got curious as to why he didn't just offer that to begin with. So I go home do some research I found the sensor replacement for $40 online and the OEM replacement for $80. Now I give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe it's a difficult job to do and takes time that's why they where charging so much. But I decided to call the puurfect auto on st rose pkwy and eastern. Asked them how much it would cost to replace a TPS Sensor if I had the part. They said it's not a hard fix about 30 mins of work or $50.... Now I'm furious I could get a replacement part for $40 and have it fixed all together for $90?!?!? Yet Joseph was going to charge me well over 3x that amount. I called and spoke with Chevy about this issue and he said it was for the best parts but if I had the part they would do it for $50 too. I've lost all trust here and will never take it here again.. taking advantage of people price gouging! Please people do your research first before you have them do work. This is unethical and they should be ashamed of themselves.
