| - I have a brand new 2015 Hyundai Elantra - in perfect condition and traveling behind a big truck, a rock struck my windshield leaving a circular crack about the size of a dime - just to the right of my line of vision. I was heartbroken... my car is barely 2 months old! In any case, I thought about my options and did some research online to find Safelite. I was skeptical but went ahead and made an appointment within a week of getting the crack.
I visited the Henderson shop on Saturday April 8th. I was greeted by Rick at the front desk, nice enough guy and had the 'talk' down pat - he explained what they were going to do and that, in some cases, the glass will continue to crack and that they would not be responsible if that happened. He also said the most I would see would be a dot on my windshield, like a dirty raindrop... and even though I didn't like the idea of my perfect car having a small blemish, I was thankful that they could fix it.
So, the good news is, the glass didn't crack any further. The bad news, I can still see the crack in my windshield. There is a dot, like a dirty rain drop, but the crack is also visible and still there... killing the look of my perfect little car. Had I been told that I would still see the crack I probably wouldn't be as unhappy, but the fact that I was told that I would only see this small dot on my windshield... well, it made me pretty pissed off.
I called customer service and complained, they sent a technician out to inspect the car this morning and I was told that it's normal to still see the cracks... and that at least the windshield is safe from the crack expanding. This did not make me feel better. Why wasn't I told up front that the cracks would still be visible?
I wish I was given full disclosure. I am happy that I have a lifetime warranty on the windshield, so if the crack expands they will fix it for free... (the reason for 2 stars, not one) but I am not happy that I see a crack on the windshield. wah.
