I don't understand how this place has such high overall reviews. Is it because it's located in a relative food desert? Who knows. Honestly, I feel like I should give it 1 star, just to balance out the other inflated ones, but I suppose that's not fair...
Ambiance: 3/5 standard mediocre asian joint feel. nothing special.
Service: 2/5 friendly, but slow.
Food:
OK, let me start off by saying Miko's Izakaya is a gross misnomer. There's maybe 5 dishes that can be considered izakaya. This place just does a little bit of every Japanese food familiar to Americans.
-Yakitori: 3/5 Ordinary
-Kushiyaki: 4/5 This was actually pretty good. good seasoning
-Agedashi tofu: 3/5 Ordinary
-Ika Sugatayaki: 3/5 Ordinary
-Miko's Gyoza: 1/5 Not the absolute worst gyoza I've had but limp and not tasty...but definitely below average. My microwaved trader joe's gyozas taste better
-Soft Shell Crab: 2/5 slightly worse than ordinary
-Tonkotsu Ramen: 3/5 broth is definitely on the watery side for Japanese ramen. The saving grace was that the salt level was good
-Miso Ramen: 2/5 below average
-Shoyu Ramen: 1/5 This one just sucked.
I think I'm actually upset with Yelp for misleading me to this place. I have not had Yelp fail me this miserably in a very long time. I went w/ two other people. We unanimously agreed without hesitation that we will not be returning to this place
