| - My husband and I love this place. Seriously. We go here several times a month. BUT, we went in tonight (a Thursday), and they were relatively steady...normal business for a Thurs. We sat at the bar, where we always do, and had a bartender that we have had many, many times before. I sat down while my husband went to the bathroom, and was there for several minutes before anyone greeted me (the bar wasn't full). Two more people came and sat next to me and they were immediately greeted and presented with drinks and menus. I found this to be incredibly off-putting, regardless of how much of a regular we are. Still waiting on a greeting, my husband came back and sat down. The bartender (female, 1 of 2) approached me and very curtly asked IF I wanted a drink. ?? Yes?? It took several more minutes to get the drinks, and even longer to get menus. Once the menus were there, it was like someone pushed fast forward. At this point, both bartenders were asking us for our orders about every 2 minutes. My husband finally asked, politely, to give us some time, we were in no hurry and enjoying our drinks. This continued anyway, so finally we hastily decided on dinner. The female bartender continued to be short with us, did not smile one time, and never actually came to where we were sitting to speak to us. She was constantly doing something else, yelling across the bar. She tried several times to remove our plates while we were still eating. It seemed like the 2nd bartender (male) was a trainee. I kept telling my husband that she was making me uncomfortable because she was rushing us (she asked us 3-4 times in a span of 5 minutes if we were ready for our bill, or if we were going to have another drink). Additionally, she asked us, "2 checks?"
This is ironic because we came to this location after our wedding for dinner just months ago. We have also been here hundreds of times and never asked for split checks (we are not hard to forget, I have bright red hair and my husband has an impressive beard). We ended up paying in cash and decided to leave without finishing. As we were leaving, my husband offered her some constructive criticism. She was extremely defensive and blamed everything on the 2nd bartender, with whom we had very little contact. She offered no apology or acknowledgement of her behavior, she just said "Okay" and walked away. We told her we would be back, but basically that we expect better service than this (honestly, this was the worst I have ever been treated by a server). I was so disappointed, uncomfortable, and put off. I worked in the restaurant industry for over ten years. I understand having bad days, being busy, in the weeds, wanting to leave before 2 AM. But it is dangerous to treat a customer as such when they spend quite a bit of time and money at your restaurant. Other customers can see that, too. I sincerely hope we don't experience this again, because we really do love CP!
