| - Worst hospital I've ever been to! I took my adult daughter into the emergency room because she was doubled over in pain. We waited 4 hours with her crying out in the emergency room. The other people waiting to be seen couldn't believe she hadn't been taken in. A nurse finally came out and said the beds were full and as soon as one became available they would start calling people. She was never even offered a blanket. Finally, a nurse from another state (she was waiting for her friend) came over with a wheelchair and asked if there was anything she could do. She said she had never seen anything like this! I went to the desk twice because my daughter was in such pain and everyone was looking (not that I cared about people looking, but that's how bad it was). I got the coldest answers from the front desk. They were the most unsympathetic people I have ever seen. They were laughing with each other and then ordered a pizza! One of the people in the waiting room said she was going to call 911 and have my daughter taken to Carolina, but we figured we'd have to go through this all again.
I had been talking with a woman waiting to be seen about my daughter. I went over to where she was sitting to give her an update on my daughter and I was tapped on the back. It was one of the woman behind the desk. She said "You need to sit down. I won't have you walking through the emergency room bad mouthing the hospital to everyone here". I was shocked! She also told another person to be quiet. I felt Iike I was in kindergarten, not an adult. I asked her name and she was so brazen she spelled it out for me as if she dared me to report her. She then proceeded to sit back down at the desk with her fellow employees and talk really loud so everyone could hear. She was talking about me! I was so embarrassed!
Needless to say, my daughter finally got to be seen, but behind the scenes didn't get any better. We had to remind the nurses of things, they didn't communicate with each other, had to wait forever for meds, etc...We went in at 7:00 pm and finally left at 3:30am!
I later received a call from a customer relations person for the hospital. She was appalled at my story and said she would send me a formal complaint form. In conclusion, I received a letter yesterday from the Nurse Manager in the emergency department saying he was really sorry, but he had talked to the employees and didn't see a problem. No complaint form, just a "sorry about that" letter. I'm sure they don't want a formal complaint, but they will get one.
