  • We have had accounts here (this review is not location specific) for 15+ years. However in the last 7 years we've started the process of moving our money to other institutions. One Nevada (formerly Nevada Federal Credit Union) has begun charging fees that other institutions don't charge. Particularly other credit unions. And the service is not as good as it once was. First, we had a business account with them for and it was always, like other accounts, free. But then without any warning/notice we had a fee attached to our account. No explanation was given until we called. So we moved our business account to another institution. We now use several other financial institutions some local and some out of state. None of them charge the fees. All of them genuinely seem to want our business. Next and most recent we have been told that phone conversations where "they will help us with our account" will incur a $5 charge. YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING I wish I was. We rarely call. We never step foot in a local branch (save applying for a home loan-- more on that in a minute). We do all our banking online. Direct deposit etc. and we have excellent personal and business credit. Never bounced a check. Don't owe anyone any money. One Nevada Credit Union is making a good deal of money off what we currently have in our accounts and before we moved most of our money out, they were really making out well with us... Why did they start nickel-and-diming us? Another thing, the phone APP hardly works for depositing checks. And if you accidentally deposit a check twice because of the APP not working correctly they will charge you a $35 fee until you call them and point out that it was a problem with the APP. Fees. Fees. Fees. Watch out for them. Lastly, they have a very nonexistent home loan program. Don't expect prompt service. Better yet don't expect service. Because you Won't Get Service. When looking to buy and refi we made multiple attempts to do business with what was our primary financial institution. No return emails. And only one, very late return phone call. The call came after we started the closing process on our home. It came with an apology but that doesn't matter. It was weeks late. And it was one return call after multiple calls and emails from us first. They don't want your business they want your money (in the form of fees they keep adding to your account) Several other credit unions in town are great. If you are a service member or former service member I suggest USAA.com. We however do not recommend One Nevada for anything they provide. You can get better, service elsewhere and without all the fees.
