| - Summary: Fantastic food! It was a life changing experience! Good atmosphere, great bar selection, and great service.
My husband and I stopped in for a quick dinner before a show. The tables were full, but bar was open and they offered full service.
The food:
Wow, I cannot say enough good things about the food. We started with the beef carpaccio, and then I had a grilled salmon and my husband had roasted game hen.
The carpaccio was like buttah! The cut of beef was buttery and lean and pounded to a very smooth and thin consistency. It was served with shaved fried onions and parmesan crackers and garnished with sprouts. I could scoop the beef onto my cracker without needing to cut it, THAT's how tender it was! The beef melted in my mouth and was very enjoyable on the palette!
My salmon was PERFECTION! If you've read my review for Brocach, you'd know that I think it's very hard to find Salmon that is done well. The salmon was seared on the outside which gave it a nice crunch, but was tender, flaky, and moist on the inside. It melted in my mouth! It was served with fennel and a root vegetable puree. The flavors were well balanced and complimented each other wonderfully!
My husband loved his game hen as well. The meat was tender and flavorful and well plated. His entree was also paired with sweet potato gnocchi. I tried a bit of his meal as well and I fully agree with him!
As an added touch, the kitchen is an open space. From where we were sitting at the bar, we could see the chef and sous chef in action. As foodies and people who have grown up in the industry, we truly enjoy watching chefs who love what they do. These guys made working the line look effortless! It was like watching a ballet. I'd be tempted to make sure I have a vantage point to watch them again when we go back next, which we absolutely will!
We decided to pass on dessert as we needed to get to our show. As a nice little bonus, we were given a little slice of coffee cake to take with us. The cake was well composed, balanced, and flavorful. It was a nice little bit of sweetness on the palette to end the night!
As you can expect for food of this caliber, the cost is a bit more expensive. But, trust me, it's well worth it!
